SHOP THE POST

We are almost one week away from Christmas and it’s finally starting to feel like winter here in Austin, TX. Just because I live in a warmer climate doesn’t mean I don’t need to change up my skincare routine, though. If you have been following me for long, you know that I truly believe healthy skin is the first step to a flawless makeup routine, and keeping up with the seasons plays a key part in your taking care of your skin. In most regions (unless you are lucky enough to live in a tropical region!), you can expect drier weather and cooler temps that will leave your skin wondering what in the world happened. Symptoms include unexpected fine lines and wrinkles, dull and flaky skin, and, sometimes, cracked lips. Don’t worry – we’re gonna get through this together. Keep reading for my 7 favorite products to help you make it through winter looking fresh and beautiful.

  1. Retexturizing Pads

Karee Hays Retexturize Daily Pads do a great job of keeping the dull away. These little guys are the perfect way to freshen up your skin, morning or night. Gentle enough to use every day, they lightly exfoliate the skin, leaving your face smoother, brighter, and more even.

  2. Moisturizer

You have probably heard me mention Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion no less than one million times. It is my all-time fave moisturizer. I use it not only for keeping my skin hydrated, but it also does wonders in removing leftover eye makeup that my makeup remover didn’t catch. Also, you can’t beat that price tag!

  3. Hydrating Balm

When my skin is feeling extra dry, I like to use SkinCeuticals Hydra Balm. This EXTRA hydrating balm delivers a ton of moisture to rescue parched skin.

  4. Eye Cream

A true classic, Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream is basic and beautiful. This is my favorite eye cream for so many reasons. Use it alone or before makeup to soothe, hydrate, and plump the undereye area.

  5. Lip Balm

Another one of my drugstore favorites, Aquaphor Healing Ointment is the best for protecting and healing dry, chapped lips. I keep a constant coat on my lips to lock in moisture and prevent flaking.

  6. Eye Mask

I am currently IN LOVE with DHC Revitalizing Moisture Strips. I store them in the fridge and pull them out in the morning while I’m having coffee to prep my eyes for the day. Yes, this is John’s favorite of all my looks.

  7. Sheet Mask

Let’s be real – it’s not always the cold weather that takes a toll on our skin. Holiday parties can leave us looking like puffy, sad versions of our beautiful selves. Luckily, the Avène Soothing Sheet Mask can help with that. This mask not only comforts dry skin, it also produces a lovely cooling effect and brings skin back to life. I like to keep mine in the fridge to help with de-puffing.
